A dialética da anarquia: sobre a teoria neorrealista de Kenneth Waltz

Resumo

O presente artigo investiga o corpo teórico neorrealista formulado por Kenneth Waltz. Como objetivo geral, define-se o intuito de apresentar e interpretar aquela teoria, discutindo seus direcionamentos centrais no plano teórico-metodológico. Para tal, contamos com o suporte da Teoria Crítica, em específico dos autores que versam sobre a epistemologia cartesiana, como Max Horkheimer. Por meio dessas lentes, o estudo preocupa-se com os conceitos relacionados ao sujeito político internacional e suas práticas, e com isso visa problematizar a imaginação política disposta no neorrealismo. Argumenta-se que a produção científica de Waltz contribui para a construção de uma ideia “empobrecida” de política, visto que se apoia em elaborações tecnicistas despojadas das considerações normativas e intersubjetivas na apreensão intelectual do cenário internacional. Tais formulações tornam-se problemáticas aos olhos dessa pesquisa, na medida em que resultam na prescrição de subjetividades conservadoras e, portanto, associadas às condutas políticas desprovidas do elemento transformador.

Biografia do Autor

Lara Selis, Universidade Federal de Uberlândia

Possui graduação em Relações Internacionais pela Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (2008) e mestrado em Relações Internacionais pela Universidade de Brasília (2011). Atualmente é doutoranda em Relações Internacionais pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, e Professora Assistente na Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU). Tem experiência na área de Relações Internacionais, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Teoria das Relações Internacionais, Filosofia das Ciências, Pós-colonialismo e América Latina.
